POPULAR CONFERENCE FOR PALESTINIANS IN THE U.S., Aug. 8-10
At a time when the Palestinian community and Palestinian rights are under severe attack, Palestinian community organizers and leaders from around the U.S. have come together to organize a Popular Conference for Palestinians in the U.S.. This Popular Conference aims to "empower our community, unify our voice, and affirm the right of Palestinians in the Shatat (exile) to participate fully in shaping our joint destiny."
The Popular Conference will strive to develop a principled, inclusive, and nonpartisan Palestinian voice in the US that is anchored in the following objectives:
- Self-determination and equality for the Palestinian people
- The right of all Palestinian refugees to return to their original homes, lands, properties and villages (a natural right supported by international law and UN Resolution 194)
- Ending the Zionist occupation and colonization of Palestine.

NOW AVAILABLE! Arna's Children
This widely acclaimed and award-winning film tells the story of a theatre group that was established by Arna Mer Khamis. Arna comes from a Zionist family and in the 1950's married a Palestinian. She opened an alternative education system in Jenin for children whose regular life was disrupted by the Israeli occupation. The theatre group that she started engaged these children and helped them to express their everyday frustrations, anger, bitterness and fear. Arna's son Juliano, director of this film, was also one of the directors of Jenin's theatre. With his camera, he filmed the children during rehearsal periods from 1989 to 1996. Now, he goes back to see what happened to them. Yussef committed a suicide attack in Hadera in 2001, Ashraf was killed in the battle of Jenin, Alla leads a resistance group. Juliano, who today is one of the leading actors in the region, looks back in time in Jenin, trying to understand the choices made by the children he loved and worked with. Shifting back and forth in time, the film reveals the tragedy and horror of lives trapped by the circumstances of the Israeli occupation.
