We are honored to share with you this new shirt expressing solidarity with the Palestinian political prisoners that sit in Israeli jails, their human rights being violated in many ways, including beatings, solitary confinement, torture, denial of adequate visitation rights, and more.
Israel illegally uses a procedure called “administrative detentions,” where activists can be jailed for 6 months without any charge and without trial, and the period can be renewed indefinitely, meaning they can spend their lives in jail without being charged with anything!
Palestinian prisoners embarked in a mass hunger strike last year to protest these conditions. After agreeing to ease the restrictions, and temporarily doing so, the Israeli prison authorities reneged on their promise. Even prisoners who were released as part of the prisoner exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit were re-arrested.
Samer Issawi, one of those prisoners, started his hunger strike on August 1st, 2012, and is on his 194th day without food in what is probably the longest hunger strike in modern history. More information about him can be found at www.freesamer.org.
WE ASK THAT YOU WEAR THIS SHIRT AS FREQUENTLY AS POSSIBLE TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT THE PALESTINIAN STRUGGLE AND THE PALESTINIAN PRISONERS.
